Deakon ran up the stairs to Professor Lupin's office. It was an urgent matter. Now he felt no need to hide his power. The blade of flame he had created was clutched in his hand. He didn't really care who saw him. He just kept running. Filch seemed to not really care that Deakon was skipping class this time. In fact he told him that he should hurry, because lupins next class was in ten minutes. Maybe he knew what had happened to deakon's grandparents.
When Deakon reached the third floor he towards lupin's door and ran straight into it. He pounded on the door with all the srength he had. "Professor Lupin! Are you in there?!" Deakon yelled through the door. He now regreted cuting his meeting with Kaori short. Maybe he should have stayed.

Remus was just gathering his things to go sub into the Defense Against the Dark Arts class when a ridiculous banging commenced at his door. He nearly dropped her cup of tea, though most definetly sloshing it down the front of his already rather shabby robes. Frowning slightly and fingering his wand into his right hand, making the cup of tea go away, he approached the door.
The voice of a student, male...familiar to him to some extent. Remus realized it sounded like Deakon and his frown turned to a sadder look, of course aware of what happened to his Grandparents. Consequently, the Ministry letter arrived to Minerva and himself at the same moment during breakfast when Deakon had received his. A most unfourtune blunder on the Ministry's part, but Remus felt Deakon was remarkable for getting out of there as he did. Remus was unsure if Deakon's emotions would have given away his fire powers right then and there.
Unlocking the door using his wand Remus could not hide his shock as he saw Deakon holding the bright, sword of Flame. Remus grabbed his arm, something he used to do to Sirius or James before they got themselves or him into trouble, and pulled him into the office and shut the door quickly behind. Remus set the locks so no one could enter and paced back to face Deakon. The boy was just as tall as he was so it always felt like speaking to an adult.
"Deakon, I am so sorry for your loss...but please have a seat...and explain...all of this." Remus said firmly but gently, aware that Deakon was probably in a rather fragile state of mind at the moment.
Still, he needed to know why Deakon would come to him like this, appearing mostly angry and determined over anything else, though he did seem to have cried already at least. A good sign of a stable mind, as he had once heard. Furthermore...he was brandishing a Flame sword. Yes, a great accomplishment likely to have been brought out by his intense emotions, and interesting and useful skill to now have...but unwise.

Deakon was surprised that he was yanked into the office. He heard the locks click and then Professor Lupin's voice. "I think I know who did this. You remember a couple weeks ago when that Death Eater was in Hogsmead? Well I think it was him, or at least another Death Eater." Deakon's voice was rather rushed, yet calm. His train of thought was hindered being in half control of the spirit that lived within him and all. So, he couldn't really remember that he would be the only one notified of his grandparent's death. He sat down yet his sword hadn't disapeared.

It was unnerving how Deakon was so calm, but James had been the same way when his parents had died in their fifth year. Remus, in turn, went and sat at a chair across from Deakon and bent his leg up so his right calf rested on his left knee. With his wand in his pocket again he made a steeple of his fingers and listened to Deakon.
Remus shook his head up a down slowly showing he did in fact remember that incident. He mulled over the next part more slowly though. It was not known which Death Eater had shown up in Hogsmeade or why so it was difficult to infer what was going on. Remus knew that Deakon's grandparents were Not members of the Order of the Phoenix, seeing as he co-led it.
"Deakon, we must put some facts together. For one, how would the death eater know who you were? And even if he did somehow discover it, why would he kill your Grandparents?"
Remus, always the logical and intellectual thinker, thought of this as an investigation himself. Many things had to fall into place, facts needed to be clarified, before they could determine who killed them and why.

Deakon's thoughts cleared. His spirit now at a conclusion. The spirit seemed more aged than anything Deakon had ever seen or heard, so he took everything it said as if an old sage lived within him. "They may have made an inferance or have someone in here spying." He replied, "But as of..." he trailed off. The spirit had asked to speak through him and Deakon agreed to it. "They may have wanted a reaction like this. And them most likely knowing that Deakon is still a child may have expected him to react this way. Which would give them an edge, With him running up the stairs brandisshing a blade of flame" The spirit was quiet again. It returned control to Deakon. He sat quietly, dispite the fact that he had a new revelation about the Death of his grand parents. Why else would someone use the killing curse, unless they wanted a person dead instantly. HE pulled out the letter from the ministry and slid it across the table.

Remus nodded slowly, having considered the possibility of a spy already. He was unsure who it could be because they had several new professors this year. Furthermore, Remus did not doubt that some death eaters had kids that went here as well, and for all he knew they could be keeping a look out on things. Thus, Remus' intense desire to keep the Elementals secret so as not to alert anyone of anything. It was for their own safety.
Remus frowned and sent his creased brow look at Deakon. Only, Deakon was referring to himself in the third person and seemed to have changed somehow. Lowering his hands to his lap Remus straightened in his seat slightly and felt tense. How did he know this was really Deakon and not someone taking Polyjuice potion. Remus could not see why coming in here as Deakon would help...or why someone would go to such trouble and make such a blunder already.
"Deakon..." Remus began but was so confused at the moment he was unsure how to continue. Pulling his wand out gingerly he conjured himself a cup of lemon tea to help himself think.

Something seemed to have startled professor Lupin. But then, Deakon remembered that not many people had more than one spirit. Hell, deakon had thought he was going mental when his first spoke to him. He decided it was best to tell prof. Lupin about his spirit. "Umm.. Professor, before you go on I need to tell you some thing. Now you're probly going to think that I'm mental but I think I have more than one spirit. In fact it just spoke to you. It's only done that to two people other than myself, you included." Deakon talked slowly. He was worried that prof. Lupin would think he was crasy and ship him off to Mungo's.

Remus stared at Deakon with his gray eyes, blinking seldom. It took him several minutes to process what Deakon said. Finally he moved, looking down, and sipped his tea. Somehow, though only half gone, it was already cooling. Setting the cup down Remus folded his hands on his lap and stared up at Deakon again.
One thing after another... Remus thought sullenly, feeling rather pessimistic as of late.
"Could you explain this spirit to me...please?"
Remus was logical and , thus, had to take things in order. First deal with Deakon's potential spirit, maybe have him tested at Mungo's. The only reason Remus figured this spirit was not due to his grief was that he mentioned it spoke through Deakon to one other person before. Surely that could not have been today as well...
After this matter of the spirit was sorted out, they could dissect the matter of the death eaters. Remus had to figure a way to convince Deakon not to go brandishing swords of flame and running out of the school to seek and destroy.

Deakon was a bit at ease. Finally he could speak with someone about the spirit. Deakon relaxed, the sword now dwindling to more of a butter knife. "Well, It started a few months ago. It was about 2 in the mourning. I think it was because of some thing I found." He pulled out a crumpled letter and handed it to Lupin. "I got frusrated and it just started talking to me." After that I started twitching And after that it all went blank. It's been happening alot lately. THe more I progress the more it seems to speak to me. Almost as If it's what makes me an Elemental." Deakon stopped there. He wasn't sure if he should say anything else. Hell, he wasn't even sure if it was real or not. Then Deakon remembered something. The first time it spoke to him It told him to tlalk to a teacher about it. "Ohh... I almost forgot It told me to talk to you, That is the first time it spoke to me."

Remus decided that he had to look at this objectively. Part of him was worried but he knew he had to see all the sides before deciding to call St. Mungo's or not. He figured not but you just never know. Possession was possible, in example of Voldemort possessing bodies before he had regained his own. Plus, possession was not typically considered a good thing by any means so Remus had to tread carefully. Deakon was fragile right now, emotionally, so in lieu of his possession it would be unwise to break Deakon down mentally and let the spirit take total control.
Remus jerked from his contemplations at Deakon's addition. Malevolent spirits did not often wish the host to draw attention to themselves for they did not often want to be found out and kicked out. However, Remus had heard of a very distant case, pre-Hogwarts, where a man had wanted a spirit exorcised from his person because the spirit had asked him to. It seemed the spirit acted as it if it had gotten confused but in reality it wanted to get out of the host so it could inhabit a better host.
Spirits, it seemed, were cast into a host not always because they were influential but because it was what is available. On that thought, Remus wondered if the spirit wanted to be cast out of Deakon for bigger and greater things, whether for good or ill. There was no way to say, however, and Deakon was a rather good host given he had elemental powers that the world at large had no clue of.
"Interesting..." Remus muttered softly, trying to get his thoughts together through this bombardment of information and contemplation.
"Deakon, has this spirit given you any information about itself? For example: was it once living or is it purely magical, or does it have a purpose, or who cast it into you, or even a name?"
Certain spirits had been recorded over time, kept at the Ministry of Magic in volumes, because one cannot kill a spirit. One can banish it but some of them, if strong enough, can always come back. The Great Goblin-Wizard War of 1102 was induced by a malign spirit possessing the Goblin King. That same spirit returned a few hundred years later to incite a Giant-Wizard war. Again it was banished, and has not resurfaced, but it always could. However, if one had the spirits name one had a better chance of locking the spirit to the Other realm in which they dwelt. Of course a wizard skilled in spirit magic would be required, but it was doable.

Deakon seemed to understand why Lupin had been asking these questions. "Well, it's told me that it's here to help with development of my powers, it hates Death Eaters, and that it remembers nothing before my powers first emerged, like it was lying in wait." That was all Deakon knew. He had placed his trust in the spirits hands. It was almost like Deakon and the spirit were inseperable, even by magical means. Almost like it was born when Deakon was.
"I have no idea what my name is. If I did Deakon would know it. Like he knows every thing I do." The spirit spoke again. It seemed to like Lupin. Deakon asked the spirit, "This is something I need to know. Are you a girl or a guy?" The spirit stayed quite for a moment. Almost like Deakon had embarresed it. "Well, I'm a . . ." It said within Deakon's mind "a girl." Deakon freaked. HE had a girl in his head. Why would anyone put a girl in his head? This was something that would have to stay between him and the spirit. No one could know that he had a girl in his head.
Deakon then remembered something; Filch had seen him. He didn't seem surprised either. He seemed to be in a mood that was unlike him, helpful. And, somewhat delighted that he had seen Deakon. Which was out of character for him. No matter what he always seemed to be trying to get Deakon in detention, "Umm.. Professor I know this is important but i need to know something. Did you tell Filch about us? The elementals I mean." Deakon was shaken now by the thought that it might not have been Filch.

Remus nodded, pondering what the spirit said through Deakon. it was strange thing and he could notice subtle differences in how Deakon held himself and talked when the spirit was in control. Remus would rule nothing out, but he could only take what he got at its word.
Remus' eyes went a little wide at the random question. A small smirk played on his lips, thinking of his minor dislike of Filch. Well, he did dislike Filch as any other kid but not nearly so much as Sirius and James had. Filch had been younger and much more agile in their Hogwarts days, proving himself a worthy caretaker.
"Not at all. The only people who know are myself, Minerva, and a few select trusted Order of the Phoenix members. I have risked treason by not informing any Ministry personnel just in case there are double agents there. Truthfully, there are double agents in the Ministry and no one can be trusted. I would rather the dark side not know for they will try to comform each of you to their side or kill you."
Remus shifted a bit, getting comfortable again in his chair, and settled his blue gray eyes on Deakon. He adopted a contemplative look, mulling over the information he had so far. Ultimately there was very little to go on, but Remus could only hope it was all for good and that the spirit could only enhance Deakon's elemental powers.

Now Deakon knew there was something amiss. "Umm... then professor, We've got a major problem. I passed him in the halls and he seemed all most happy to see me. In fact he was the one who told me you were in here." He was now more frieghtened than ever. The spirit was as well. He slipped into a state that no one had ever seen; terror. He had all ways known that Filch was evil, in some sense, but Death Eater evil. That had never crossed his mind. How would he be able to pass through the halls that long and not be known as a suporter.
Deakon gripped the the sides of the chair as his palms began to warm. If there was one thing he knew it was that if something in his hands he couldn't use his fire conjuring powers.

Remus cocked his head slightly to the side as Deakon spoke. He observed him grow afraid and tense, gripping the chair. Raising a brow slightly, and remaining perfectly calm, Remus conjured himself a new hot cup of tea, chai this time.
"Don't be hasty" Remus began, trying to get Deakon to calm down. This had been a trying day so everything probably seemed out of sorts.
"Argus knew I was in here because he had just left seeing me not too long ago, not to mention the fact that I am often in her during the day attending to things. It is the most likely place to find me. As for being 'almost happy to see you' as you say, well, that might be due to the fact that you were distressed...he does rather enjoy student suffering, as you know."
Remus paused for a moment to let Deakon get a grip. It was hard to lose loved ones amidst such a war torn world. It made one feel like there was nothing to do to stop the chaos. That was what James said when his parents died and that was how Remus had felt when James and Lily had been killed...and then Sirius too.
"Argus is a squib, so there is no way he is a death eater for they treat squibs like they do muggles and muggle born people."

Deakon calmed down at Lupin's words. He was right. They did treat squibs like they did muggles, sometimes even worse. "But professor there's one thingI don't understand. He saw the sword don't you think that would startle him? I mean if I was in his position I'd be rather freaked out." He lossened his grip on the chair and moved to his ussual relaxed slump. For some reason he'd become aquianted with his grand-parents deaths.
He wipped out his lighter and set it on the desk. His eye-sight was still poor from his last encounter in the forest but not as poor as it had been. As the flame built Deakon slipped on his glasses, remembering that he hadn't had them on all morning. He twitched his fingers, making the fire shift and turn and eventually rise from the lighter to form a small golfball-sized fire ball. He moved it his middle and index finger inward which, in turn called the ball to his palm.
